Missing brake caliper "dust covers" (?)... stolen from parking lot?
Walked out to my 2008 E90 M3 to head to lunch, and the rear brake caliper stuck out like a sore thumb. I obsess over my car pretty much daily, so I noticed it. Was there a black cover there before? The front brakes seem "normal", but both rear wheels look like this.
I already called the parts counter at the dealer to see the price on a couple of replacements ("rear caliper dust covers?"). Waiting for a call back... I guess my questions with this post are - Is this a (somewhat) common occurrence for this piece to fall off or be missing? - Any recommendations on an easy way to fix/replace this? - Is there any safety hazard here with braking? (I don't think so... but just double checking) |

I havent had any problems with them fall off before, I know its a pain in the ass to put on and take off, and there should not be any issues I recall they are anti-vibration thingies lol

OK end thread. Feeling rather silly now. I never noticed the difference before, and for some reason it stuck out like a sore thumb, and when I looked at the fronts and they were different, I assumed something was amiss. PARANOIA! Thank you again all. |

Don't feel so bad, I thought the exact same thing about 2 months after I got my car and had to verify just to make sure something wasn't amiss. Bottom line is those rear calipers are ugly...functional but ugly!
