You have iDrive? There are settings in the Mkey menu for the default settings. You can set Power off and EDC to Normal there...

Go to settings, M Mode settings, scroll to power, push to the right and it should be in there under M Key settings. I think your key needs to be inserted but not I'm not totally sure. The M key settings are the default for your keyfob.

Unless you code the car you cannot have EDC automatically turned off every time you turn on the car. I honestly can't find a good reason to do this, but to each his/her own.
It seems like you've already gotten your answer regarding the Power button. |

If you have iDrive, you can default the settings on Power ON and EDC on other settings than Comfort. I found a thread that shows how to do it.
http://www.m3post.com/forums/newrepl...e=1&p=12291932 I wanted to keep the Power ON on startup due to another thread saying better gas mileage with it ON. I tested it, and I believe it. So, it's ON always.

It's amazing how many people buy an M3, but never bother to read the manual to figure out how to make their driving experience better or easier.
Please read the manual people... it WILL only help you. |

I went from 14.5 mpg to 34 mpg.
NOT! Unfortunately it's not all that great if at all. I don't drive in full on kick ass mode for the fuel savings. I do it because if the car's going to be stamped "M"otorsport, it better damn well feel that way! |

Well, on mostly highway, I was getting about 18-19mpg calculated(not computed by M3). With Power Button ON, I got 21-22mpg. But, I must say for that one trial tank of gas, I did go the lengths to get the best mileage. If the Power Button staying ON vs. OFF gives better throttle response without hurting gas mileage, I think the choice is obvious.
