Best Springs For EDC

I am thinking about getting springs for e92 with EDC. I\'m not too concerned about the drop really and I don\'t want to get coilovers. What is considered the best springs for handling?

Have you tried looking into KW Sleeve kits? This kit is specially designed for those who want a drop to reduce the gap and for minimal performance gain. It uses your OEM shocks and keeps your EDC option operational. I'll shoot you over a PM for more details!

There is performance increases and the ride quality is pretty close to OEM as many people have said.

I would look into Dinan. Pricey but they do it right. Travel isn't compromised, even 1/2" drop at all 4's, 10% firmer than stock. I've got the Stage 1 and I like the ride better than OEM. No issues with EDC.

I'm also on Dinan. Better ride and some performance improvement.

Ground Control also makes a coil-over conversion for EDC. I think it is significantly stiffer than the Dinan springs. I've been wondering if someone can reprogram the EDC to work a little better with some of the stiffer springs out there.

I think once you go with a higher spring rate, the limitation is the shocks themselves which aren't valved for higher spring rates. No programming will change that.

Wonder if anyone revalves/rebuilds EDC shocks?

Most springs on the market are perfectly fine with EDC:

Eibach
H&R
RD Sport
B&G
Dinan

The KW Sleeve-over kit is not mandatory, but it does allow you to dial in your ride height as well as retain EDC.

The Ground Control kit is not sold with rates that are too high for the EC. There is a limited choice, but there is a "cap" due to the damping constraints.

By the way, the spring rate of the stock bumpstop are much stiffer (very high) pounds/inch than springs, as are short stiff replacements, so that is a greater effect on the dampers than a medium spring and soft bumpstop combination.

Struts and shocks are "rolled and folded" assemblies, which are incredibly expensive and difficult to work on, so it would be a big project. But it could be done.

I was reading about a guy that works for Ohlins looking to improve on the stock shocks, and after he took apart the OEM EDC shock he concluded that he could not make an improvement. Dinan will reprogram the EDC function when you purchase there EDC compatible springs.

Can you elaborate on how Dinan reprograms the EDC?!?

That is mis-information. Dinan does not do any such thing.

I like the Dinan kit but I remember reading a fairly long thread about it being way cheaper and better to build your own Dinan Stage 1 kit.

There's a thread by Malek where he describes how to modify the front stock upper mount and switch to e36 M3 bump stops to regain almost all of the factory suspension travel (I think you lose 0.1" of travel). I could be wrong but I believe he used H&R lowing springs. He's also running the stock rear zcp wheels front and rear - car looks great and supposedly handles extremely well! I'd do a serch for that thread.

+1... I'm going to be running RD Springs with e36 M3 bump stops on my 2012 ZCP car for now. I will eventually upgrade to a more track oriented coil over setup though.
