Professional detailing or vinyl??
Hey guys,
I was just wondering if I should bring my car to a prof detailer in my area to make my car look better then new again or should i put a vinyl on it... I am not so sure about the color I would go for though, I was thinking about matte (flat) white. What do you guys think? Price would be about the same... Here are some pics of my car but I just added the carbon performance splitters and an ACS carbon rear diffuser... (not on the pics yet) http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=508274 Thanks for your advice!

It really depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want the car to be like new, then I would go for the proff. detailer. But if what you want is the matte look or to change the color, then wrapping is the way to go. But just know, that wrapping with vinyl is very expensive for what I hear, so I would get a quote on both choices and make up your mind then. I would like to go with the matte look, especially if they can match my color. That is just my opinion though.

I find it strange that wrapping your entire car in vinyl would cost you the same as having your car detailed.
Usually there is a big price difference between a detail and vinyl wrap. Like mentioned above, if you want a completely different look then do the wrap just make sure it is done properly. |

i prefer a wrap...but that's way too much $$ though. With the wrap you have the luxury of "changing" your current color, though, i know the color options are limited for wraps.

The prof detailing would cost approximately 1100€. It is very expensive but it is done by a company which is known to be the best in the wider area. The need my car for about 3 days. They normally do Lambos, Ferraris and Astons.
They told me that I can find a proper detailing service anywhere else but they are looking for long term customers aswell so the service they are offering is amazing. Wrapping the car in vinyl would be somewhere around 1200 -1800€ depending on the vinyl and the guy doing it. So the difference is not that much considering that you get a full new look for your car. The only thing I am wondering about is the glossy carbon parts and rims on my car and the matte finish on the vinyl. Do you guys think that it would still look good. Might be a nice contrast... I am still torn...

^^^ +1, you do not want everything matte, you should have some shinny stuff, to get a nice contrast.

Slighlty off topic, but how long do wraps typically hold up for if cared for properly (however that is done)?

It should be good for couple years as soon as you take good care of it. The only problem is the door jam cant be wrapped, also is not as "shiny" as paint
