2000km service tomorrow - 8300rpm, here we come
Very excited about the service tomorrow. Don't know if I will be able to stop driving afterwards. Could it lead to separation or divorce? Have already become addicted to the 30 min pizza run via the hills. Have also started leaving work in the middle of the day to make phone calls whilst driving on the freeway. Will the addiction get worse? Should I seek help? Or is this just normal being overcome by the thrill of the M3?

Just had mine!
I just had my 1200mi/2000km service this past Monday!! Incredible, especially for me coming from a lowly first generation US WRX with ~210 hp. The WRX red-lined at 7000 rpm but really noticeably loss power around ~5000 rpm with monster turbo lag until about 2800 rpm (though the kick from 2800-5000 was enough to scare most passengers surprisingly). The M3 power from the NA engine is just intoxicating and pulls ALL-THE-WAY to red-line. I never thought I could enjoy driving as much as I now do. Hopefully this will never wear off!

the addiction gets worse. 90% of my miles are completely unecessary and just for fun. i almost wish my commute to work was a bit longer, i barely have enough time to get the oil up to temp before i'm there.
oh...it's been this way for going on 1.5 years now...

My total daily commute is 65 miles!! And I work most weekends too. I may actually go to work twice in one day if I get called (like yesterday) then my commute is 130 miles on a one way hwy with plenty of overtaking!! This car makes being-called-to work enjoyable. (18000 miles in 10 months).

Not to kill the buzz, but I wouldn't (and didn't) redline right after the break-in service. Tha manual suggest to proggressively increase the speed from 2000km to 5000km.
I'm at 1400miles now, which is 2250km. I haven't redlined yet, I did several bursts of WOT but shifted around 7-7.5k.

After break in, nothing wrong with redlining it from time to time. I agree it is supposed to be progressive, but no need to baby it slowly. Redline it, before you know you'll be illegally speeding anyway, so might be time to ease off

If your looking for a fun drive, take the road up to Windy Point then make your way to the Freeway, come back down though the Tunnel (give it a little squirt ) then head towards Greenhill Rd. Head up Greenhill rd for about 10km. A great drive for a Sat or Sun. I found that these have been my fav. settings MDM S5 EDC max windows down no music!

Very lucky here in Adelaide, many fun winding roads in the hills just 10 min from CBD. I take the same roads you mention all the time. Go via windy point to pick up pizza (20 min) and via old mt barker road, mt lofty then down greenhill road as the long way to work (30 min). If there are any cops reading this - you can't catch me!

Suppose I should also report how f***ING awesome 8400rpm is. Very difficult to contain the urge to do this in first gear every take off. Slowed to almost a stop and did a tunnel blast yesterday after picking it up from service - too good!
