New to BMW

My wife has been looking for something sportier than her GS. Last week on our way back to Denver we stopped in at a BMW dealership and looked at the M6, M3s and the 335es.
Our opinion was that the M6 is at the top of our list, it was fast, nicely appointed and it handled extremely well.
My question for you guys is what is the main difference between the M3 and the 335es? The 335es felt faster but according to the salesman, that isn't the case. I also had our salesman park both cars side by side and for the love of god, I can't tell them apart. The M3 had different wheels, what looked like a non-functional vent on the side and a hump on the hood.
I'm I missing something?

Best,

F.

www.bmwusa.com you can compare the two there.

M3 is faster but you need to rev it up high to experience it. If thats not your thing then the low end torque of the 335is might be better suited for your needs.

M3 handles much better and has higher quality interior parts. List goes on and on.. but the question is if you want any of it is up to you.

Get the M6 if thats what you two love best after test driving them all.

why ask if you prefer the "nicely appointed" M6. get the M6 for 100 grand. by the way the M3 is faster than the M6 and handles better too. and i had the 335 and the M3 is completely differnet in looks other than the wheels and the bump in the hood. and i cant believe you are looking at a M6 and a 335. opposite ends of the spectrum. if i were you id wait for the M5 next year and check that out along with the 128.

ummmm....really??...side by side and you cant see the difference in the M3 and 335i?
the glass, headlights, tail lights and trunk lid are the only shared exterior components!
front fascia, fenders, hood, quarter panels, roof, wheels and tires are all different....not sure how you cant notice the diff when both are side by side...but anyway....the three cars you were looking at and test drove are completely different. you may want to think about your over all needs and desires...how you are going to use the car!
the salesman should of asked you this before taking any car for a drive!!

Well the 335is does have a pretty similar front end to the m3. If I couldn't tell the difference between both i'd get the 335is, or if I had the cash then maybe the m6 out of those, but for the same cash i could get a carrera, so no.

Looking at cars for,55 or so 335, M3 70, M6 100 k,lol. I think you should let your wife check out a Honda then a Ferrari. Its to funny the things people ask.

If you decide M3 you would be a moron buying it when 335 is faster to you and there is no difference in looks. I also wonder how fast did you go on your test drive how high did you Rev all 3. Stick to your Class.

Thank you for all of the responses, they are much appreciated. I must admit that I haven't seriously looked at a car in 15 years. I moved from NYC where we had my wife's lexus parked 90% of the time and I had an old Range Rover that I bought in College and wasn't willing to part with.
I was giving an opportunity in Denver and part of my package was the car that I am presently driving.

I think that I will go back out with my wife and test drive cars again, any other cars that you guys would look at? We want something fun, I was offered a Panorama when I was being hired but opted for the CLS63 AMG instead.

1. Don't buy the m6-its in the works of being redesigned
2. WTF?? You can't tell between the m3 and the 335i? I can spot an m3 from a 335 a mile a way. Lower, fatter body, hood bulge for the engine, functional hood vent, ARE YOU BLIND?? QUAD EXHAUST SHOULD TELL YA!
It doesn't sound like you want performance, you want aesthetics, and BMW is not for you. Stay with your GS or get the new RX Hybrid.
