Better (cheaper) daily driver tires than Michelin?

I was wondering what brand of tires people recommend for the 19" OEM wheels on the E92 M3.

Basically I see the Michelin's that came on the car are quite a bit more expensive than most tires, and curious if it's going to be worth to buy more.

Car has just about 12,000 miles on it and the rears are almost completely bald. I've never spun the tires in it, and I've only been to the track once for two days. It was my first time too so I doubt pushed the car and tires as much as some of the regulars out there.

So my needs are mostly daily driver, with maybe 1 to 2 track weekends a year. And ignore the fact of winter, these are for next season, don't think I play on driving these in the snow!

I know there are as good but cheaper performance tires out there, soI wanted to hear what people recommend as I'm still a noob when it comes to this stuff.

Check out the Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta. Great performer at an amazing value.

The tires are the single component that I would not compromise on a car. Stick with the PS2's or change to something that is at least as good.

I couldn't agree more.

And that's WHY the guys above are recommending the Vredestein Sessantas.

Best tire value for the money IMO.

I'll never have to buy PS2's ($$$$) again...

Don't knock them until you've tried them brother.

On top of what Lemans said...for those who can tell, I think the Vredestein Sessanta's are a lot nicer looking tires (aesthetics wise).

Michelin PS2's aren't the only game in town, if you truly want an excellent all-around tire product.

When did I say anything negative about the Sessantas? I'm not knocking them. I just said not to go with an alternative that degraded performance because tires are the single most noticeable consumable on the car.

I have a feeling the Sessantas are decent replacements based on the feedback that many have given. However, I still have to try them myself before I give them a nod. The Hankook Ventus V12 Evo also seem like a viable alternative for less money. There's no way I'd go with something like Toyo T1-R's or worse yet, General Exclaim UHP's.

Even though my car has only 3,600 miles on it, I already have a set of replacement PS2's sitting in the garage that I got from someone who took them off an '09 with <1k miles. I couldn't pass up the deal to get PS2's for less than Sessantas.

While on the tire subject, may I ask if the Sessantas are a summer tire or an 'ultra high-performance all-season' one? And has anybody run them down yet to compare mileage?

If Sessantas are summers, any recommendations for an ultra high-performance (or even high-performance) all-season tire in stock 19 sizes? No need for a summer tire for 100% street duty with no twisties around. Besides, those tires give little performance away to the summers, last longer, ride quieter, are cheaper, and you have some piece of mind if you run into winter weather. I wouldn't put just all-seasons, but summers are just overkill for me. Thanks.

The Sessantas are ultra high performance summer tires. They are not rated to be all seasons.

Becareful if you are lowered and have aggresive offsets. The Dunlops have a huge sidewall and can cause rubbing (trust me).

255/35-19 (front) and 275/35-19 (rear), as they run a tad smaller than OEM PS2s. The plus size will put you in the middle of same-sized PS2s and the OEM size (245/35 and 265/35).
