I doubt it. The car would probably be drag limited well before 200. I'd say without a speed limiter you'd see 190 max.

Well it probably isn't stock. Note in the title 460 PS which is about 450 HP and 8,800 rpm is also only with a raised limiter. Agree that 340 kmh is still optimistic but this probably isn't a stock M3.

BS M3 cant do 200mph stock. You have no idea what you are talking about. Back up your comments with facts, which you wont be able to because the M3 CAN NOT do 200 mph. The m3 doesnt even have the gearing to pull it off.

My calculations indicate that a 6MT E9X M3 with stock gearing and tire sizes will hit 312 kph @8300 rpm, and 331 kph @8800 rpm IF it can generate the necessary power. Depending on the wind conditions, modifications, and if you factor in some speedo error, 340 kph on the speedo might be possible.
Actually, if you freeze the video when the speedo indicates 340kph, you can see that the tach reads about 8500 rpm, which corresponds to a real speed of 320kph IF the tires are stock size.

The M3 has a final drive at 3.846:1 Which might make it possible to reach 200mph if the limited is removed, but its still would be a hard task. However who knows it if has the power or the aerodynamics to pull it off. the 190's sounds more realistic. Everytime a super car hits 200mph you always hear about it being done by some magazine or tester. Still havent heard anythign on the M3 hitting 200mph, Im sure someone will but 340kph, is very hard to believe consider the a bunch of other cars which are much faster then the M3 cant even pull that off. Insert your example here. |

Okay.....the stock DCT 7th gear is tall enough for 208mph at 8400rpm...so with more power and a higher redline its possible....but speedo error at that pace would be around 5%.....which puts him at about 201mph....plausible given the stated 460HP....
http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/aerohpcalc.html E92 is .310 drag with a 23.36 frontal area for an effective frontal area of 7.24 or about the same as a corvette Z06

Wow! I hope that 5% error on the speedo is correct because I'm about to receive a 60 km/h over speeding ticket on the autobahn. Man o' man, it's about 450 Euro, lol.....

When car mags do real world top speed tests not even the big hitters can reach 200mph. R&T couldn't get a Murcielago to 200 even with taping all the gaps and removing the side mirrors, it only hit like 197.
Watch an event like the Silver State classic to see what it takes to go a legitimate 200mph, it's not easy and there are very few cars that can do it without a lot of work.

My understanding is that all Murcielagos are rated at 205+mph top speed by Lamborgini (even the 572 hp version). They won't provide false ratings--for a company like Lamborgini, too much to lose if the specs are proven to be false. If the magazine couldn't do it, the car might not have been running optimally or wind/road conditions got in the way.
