Good news - Performance Friction on the way for stock brakes
Looks like we FINALLY have a little momentum with PFC. We just got the go for Z-Rated street pads, race pads (likely 01 and 06), and Direct Drive OE replacement rotors. No timeline yet, but I expect at least pads to come quickly.

Excellent. I had issues with pad deposit on my rotors this weekend at the track and I'm willing to swap the rotors and pads every track weekend if I know that the rotors will sustain the temperature well with my Carbotech XP12 pads.
Let us know when you get a ETA for the rotors and pads. Thanks, |

I'll take rotors, PF-Zs and PF-06s when they come out.
This is the reason I check this board so often. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. P.S. Tucker was great to deal with on the BBS REs. |

No way they will move that fast. Hoping rotors will be 1 month best case. Takes a bit of effort to put them into the production pipeline, but they do have all the measurements needed, so that helps.

I HAD to ask. I'd even be willing to be the first paying customer to test them on a track on the 20th...

Joe, you already own two sets of wheels and you bought another? Nice, are you selling one of your sets of 18's?

I have two sets of stock 18s and two complete sets of BBS REs. I'd like to sell one set of each and buy into the RAC group buy. By the time the one set of BBS REs are ready for sale, I'm afraid the GB will be closed. |

I see that you now see the light RJ. Shep was going to buy a few extra sets for retail. Maybe you can talk him into selling you a set in a few weeks?

What configuration will the rotors be? Floating disc on aluminum hat? Drilled, slotted?

I just talked to my sales guy yesterday at the track. The pads are finally on the home strech - they were initially a little help up because they were put on the same work order as the rotors, which will take a little longer. So sooner than later is the new pad eta...

PFC pads
Any updates on the release date of the PFC pads for the OEM calipers??? Anxiously awaiting the release of these!
Would somebody educate me on the differences between the 01 and 06 compounds? |

Very soon, I am promised...
We are only going to make one compound for track pads initially, likely 01 due to the weight of the car. Description of materials is here: http://store.bimmerworld.com/Product1061 |

When most of you change brake they go all the way. But why not buy an 6 pot caliper with pfc brake pads and keep the original disc they are massive 30mm thick by 360mm. The problem is mostly brake pads and the sliding calipers. The disc of bmw are pretty good.

Mostly... A BMW rotor is certainly better than some of the chiinese blanks seen in some of the leading brake kits on the market these days. But they are not as good as the PFC direct-drive rotors with true replaceable rings - the tolerances are way better on the aftermarket part. And same with calipers to a degree - I wouldn't go too far out of my way to replace a sliding BMW caliper with a cheap 6-pot aftermarket that is likely cast and two piece just because it doesn't slide. And if you pony up to get a good caliper on the level of a PFC brake kit that is a forged monobloc, it is cheaper to buy the kit.
I think there are degrees of how modified you want to go and a better balance for my taste would be the PFC pads and DD rotors. Opinions will vary! |

If you put a 6 pot ap caliper with bracket fit the m3 e90/e92 front hub with pads that s not a bad combo either. We do this mostly on our racecars. Ap discs PFC discs are expensive to replace. M3 original are much cheaper. We can buy almost 3 discs for one AP disc. Ap discs do not last 3 times as long with pfc pads.
Lol i checked you prices on youre site pfc is good price we can never get those discs for that sort of prices in europe. Our original discs are much much cheaper to get overhere |
