External Temperature Gauge
Just curious to know if anyone else has found a disparity between the external temperature gauge reading and the actual outdoor temperature. I have found that mine is consistently showing 6 degrees F colder than actual temperature. I know that the outside temperature gauge is not a critical function for driving this fun little beast, but it would be helpful if it was accurate. I wonder if there is something they can do in the software to correct the offset. Next time I'm in for an oil change I will have to have them check it out.

I haven't noticed much difference. Everytime the radio quotes the temp the indicator has been pretty close.
Now that I have the REV package up and running on the iPod, I can check all kinds of parameters. |

What are you comparing it against?
I can drive down a single street with no(little) elevation changes, and see several bank clocks that all read different within minutes of each other. Not saying yours isn't off, but all of these types of temp gauges are notoriously inconsistant. |

Mine seems off too. However, I've been comparing to the current temperature reading provided by the weather app on my iPhone. I should utilize a thermometer.

As my 128i seems to be dead accurate, your dealer might want to check the temp sensor. In prior models it was located in the right front wheelwell and could cause problems if dislodged. Last year, my '99 328i began reading a consistent -40o F after some chipmunks became enamored of the wiring to the sensor - ca. $300 for replacement!
