OBDII Scanners - Anything Special About BMW?

With the pending arrival of my 135i, the family fleet is growing. I don't really want to be out wrenching all of them, but when the wife's Check Engine light comes on I'd like to have an idea what is going on rather than sending her to Pep Boys (for free) or wandering into BMW.

The family fleet will soon consist of 2 BMWs ('09 135i & '07 X3), one '00 New Beetle, and a '02 Pontiac Montana.

It looks like Actron scanners are viable - nice features, and you can update them online.

Does anyone know of any BMW-specific reasons that an Actron (CP9180) would not be a good choice? I saw the ones that Leatherz.com has, and they seem to be just for BMW.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have Fun,
Rick
