Valvetronic motor issue

I recently replaced my Valvetronic motor because of that awful ticking sound. But now it’s saying the faults are too frequent and it’s deactivated the system! Did I so something wrong In my steps to replace this?

Also is there any specific way to remove it and install it. I took out the minimum stop sent the shaft back and just pulled out motor and put new one in and then everything back together?

I recently did this. ISTA coding is required to set limitations. It cycles the valvetronic motor 500 times during the reset. Took several minutes to complete and it was interesting seeing how the valvetronic motor works with the car at idle.

Is this a software I can get easily or would I need to go somewhere?

“Easily” is a subjective term! Requires a lot of storage space and a license. I’m sure you can find a free version somewhere with some digging but I purchased the license when I got the software.

Hopefully it did not cause any damages! I would not drive the car until you do the ISTA coding as the escentric shaft would set you back at least $2k if it’s damaged

Not sure but I don’t believe it would cause any head or valve damage outside of the teeth on shaft. Replacing the shaft, is more involved than the valvetronic motor.

There should be resistance but you shouldn’t have any issues rotating it! Is there any damage to the teeth?

None. but there is significant resistance compared to old motor. should the spring back be able to move the motor?

Also I cleared dme and tried resetting and it got through 10 cycles and then said it failed and the dme code came back on again

Also one thing to note I bought one of those cheaper motors for $125

I think next bet is to buy a oem from FCP EURO. And pull this apart for third time. Because my last motor was going because it worked sometimes and sometimes it didn’t.

I would only go with an OEM motor. I got a deal when I purchased mine for around $400.

The OEM or continental (oe supplier) are the only ones I would go with. The cheap Chinese parts should only be trusted when it’s non mechanical, I.e exhaust system.

Good luck! Not sure how many miles you have on your car but I replaced injectors 1-4 while at it. Went with Bosch EU6
