Valve cover leak -- repair estimate?

Dealer found a very minor valve cover leak in my M4. SA (who is a good guy and always looking to save me money) said it was not an immediate problem, and recommended that I deal with it if/when I can smell burning oil. Quote for the work was about $3,400, which struck me as absurd. Questions:

1. Is that quote absurdly high?
2. Could a competent indy do this work, or should I have a dealer do it?

Thanks in advance.

Valve cover gasket is like $50
Labor is 7hrs but a shop might charge 40-50% over.
I would recommend replacing the cover at point too cause the pcv fails

That seems high but i would expect maybe $1200 at the dealer but im just guessing. Its an easy job though, just a lot of stuff to remove to get to it... Kinda like how they charge $1000 for a spark plug job.

I second this. I had my PCV Cover replaced for ~$900 at an Indy in SoCal. Dealer was quoting me ~$4,500 iirc.

I'd explore other options if I were you.
