WiFi & Apple CarPlay
My son has a 2018 X5, he called me yesterday for help in figuring out why Apple CarPlay is no longer working. He's not technical and I don't know iDrive 6 so its like the blind leading the blind I had him go through the iDrive menu, we got his phone reconnected via Bluetooth and was able to stream music to the car. Ok, so he was happy with that. I saw he had WiFi checked in the checkbox. I could not find anything relating to Apple CarPlay in any of the menu's. Then it dawned on me that maybe he lost the ability to use it when the OEM warranty expired??.. ..but that's just a guess as I would have at least expected to see it on one of the menu's. So I thought I'd reach out to this community for help.
- Does an iPhone use WiFi or Bluetooth or both to connect via Apple CarPlay? - Does he require an active Connected Drive subscription to use Apple CarPlay? - How can he get Apple CarPlay back? Thanks |

Are you 100% it worked before? May be his car doesn't have Car Play?

I have my phone connected to ID 6, 7 and just this weekend to 8 and the connection was pretty much the same for all. You might want to check with the dealer. Here is an article saying that BMW removed the subscription for CarPlay. It might be something broke on his ID? https://9to5mac.com/2019/12/04/bmw-w...-in-some-cars/ |
