Original Owner missed break in period

So I just found out the original owner of my F82 M4 didnt do the break in period check up thats supposed to be done at 1200 miles until 2800 miles. Car now has 59,000 miles. Should I be worried? I was planning on doing oil change, pads, diff fluid, and air filters this week; Car is completely stock and had 1 owner before me no accidents

I'm curious about this as well. I'm the second owner and the first maintenance showing on my Carfax report on my car was at 5k miles at BMW. Currently I'm at 25k miles. When I bring it in for service to BMW for the first time I'm going to see if maybe it's in their system or not for the break in service.

Only the M cars have this 1,200 mile service now. In the old days, all bmws had it. Funny how when bmw started paying for maintenance, it suddenly was not important on most of their lineup.

The short story is you will be fine. You are out of warranty and that would be the only reason it would matter (if you were in warranty bmw could use it against you).

Go enjoy the car

No I wouldn't worry. It's more important if you are looking for warranty claims.

56,000 miles later and out of warranty, zero concern.

At least it was done at 2500, you'll be just fine. Actually, you already are fine. At this mileage, you couldn't possible point to a late break in service for anything, so why stress?

Yeah.

1 Series M with N54 had a mandatory break-in period.
Z4 35is with the same N54 did not have a mandatory break-in period.

On top of that, BMW then says 6MT fluid is lifetime.

It's all kinda bullshit, to be honest.

Worse is the 8 speed auto having lifetime fluid That thing is a ticking timebomb without a fluid change!

and... I did not know about the 1M/Z4 35is comparison, but it makes sense!

I Had the same concern when I bought my used F80. The 1200 mile service wasn't on the CarFax, but I had the service manager pull the service records and it was completed so don't rely on just the CarFax.

Then parts dude at dealer says, "you know this is lifetime fluid." Yes, I know and my car is out of warranty and your Zurich CPO warranty sucks anyway. Lol

Can someone confirm whether the car actually displays a message at 1200 miles for this break-in service like it does for other things like oil changes and brakes?

I'm pretty sure the original owner of mine just took it in whenever the car told him service was needed, or at least it seems that way from the maintenance history, but there's no info about a 1200 mile service.

From memory there is a warning symbol that appears every time you start the car. I guess some people miss it? It is on the iDrive screen - up top and a different color. Never goes away.

It stays there until you have the service done.

Aren’t you out of warranty already anyway? What’s the point if he did it or not. Just saying

Just in case that may cause some type of long term powertrain damage. I figured that 1200 mile service interval was there for a reason and a vital step for the car's longterm reliability but I guess not.

You can do a blackstone analysis if you are worried? A compression test if you are really, really worried? Others may have additional thoughts on how to assess the condition of your engine

Had a BMW dealership tell me my car was ineligible for extended warranty because 1,200 mile service was not completed. Service did not show on Carfax either. Fortunately, I had hard copy paperwork for completed service at BMW dealership and all was "fixed".
