Convertible top issue

Hey guys,

I am having issue with opening my convertible top. When I have all 4 windows are up and open the top via the center console button. My two rear windows opens but the two front windows do not. and the roof will not open. However, if I open the two front window before pressing the center open button, it works. What do you guys think might be the issue?

If it's like the E46, the convertible top control module has to communicate with the body control module to roll the windows down and open the trunk prior to lowering the top. Since the rear windows are going down, they are talking. Take a look here; https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e93-m3-cab/ at the wiring diagrams.

The top will only operate when the windows are down. For some reason your top switch isn't communicating with your front windows. It should lower all 4 simultaneously when depressed prior to the top opening/closing. Does it roll them all up when you close it?

Only the rears rolling up. The front remains lowers

Then the connection between those systems is compromised. Once the roof is closed and fully seated, all four windows should raise via the center console switch. It's the exact opposite from the opening sequence. Idk if the E93 has a separate control module for top operation. It's either something like that or you're gonna have to get at wiring with a voltmeter.

Good luck!

Try to reset windows rolling on front windows by pressing the roll down button hold it 30sec then roll up and hold another 30 sec. That might be little off. If that doesnt solve the issue i would suggest you to run a diagnostic test to see if there is any error stored from the CTM sensors! Let me know!

You have to re-learn the stops for the windows before the top moves again. As mentioned by Sangria above. Try it via the front two window switches and the all-windows button as well and it should do it.
