Ugh! Accident

Thankfully no one was hurt and family was not in the car. I was in the right most of two left turn lanes at a light. My lane was left or straight the left one was left turn only. Light changes and get about halfway through the turn and a pickup in the left only lane stays straight. Smacks right into the rear driver door. And, just had a full detail done the day before...

It's driveable and fixable but definitely won't buff out. Second time in two years I'll be heading back to the body shop. First a damn deer and then this.

Gripe is over. Could be worse.

Omg. Inner lane turners who turn wide is a pet peeve of mine. It's like an instant road rage button for me

And I don't get why almost no one on the road can make these turns properly. I mean it's not like it requires some special skill or knowledge - they mark a fucking curved lane for you so all you have to do is follow it like you follow the lanes on the road when you're driving straight!!

Hate those double left turn lanes....if you're in the inner lane you have to look out for the outer ones turning into your lane. If you're in the outer lane have to look out for the inner lane turning wide and cutting you off

There's a 2 lane left turn in manhattan (wb on 42nd entering west side highway for any locals here) that literally it's 50/50 chance cars in left lane will run u into a barrier turning wide. Crazy.

Going to add another layer of complexity to this... the worst ones for me are the oncoming turners...

If you're turning left into a double lane, theres an 80% chance that the oncoming car who is turning right (your left) will go wide. I don't know what it is with drivers and being scared to hang tight to their side. Maybe it's a fear or incomprehension of your vehicle respective to the roadway.

Biggest problem that I see in today's drivers is this sense of tunnel vision.... So easy for people to forget that their car exists among others.

I've been driving more recklessly in the past years simply to bring awareness to where my vehicle is on the road. Obviously there is a fine line between putting myself and others in danger, but it seems if I am making a lot of noise, quick decisions and so forth... I am taking other's thought processes or lack thereof (the big flaw and what causes problems for lots of enthusiasts) out of the equation and simply making decisions for them.

No sir, you're not turning here. I am. You're in the left lane going 65 scared to get over with your blinker on? I'm going to downshift two gears and pass you. Phone talkers, inexperienced folk... the rules of the road are simple. There's a lane for you. 99% of the time it's okay to stay there, don't you know most of the time your exit is on the right anyways???

OP sorry about your car. Had to rant for a bit. People are dumb... but at the end of the day cars are replaceable and you aren't. We have insurance for a reason.

We have an intersection where the 2 left-turning lanes turn onto a 3-lane express way. People just pick whichever lane they like after halfway through the turn. It is maddening!

That sucks, I almost got into 3 similar accidents within 2 minutes last month, was in the i3 actually.

3 lanes, L only, L only, and R only. I am in the middle lane which is left only, person in R only turns left as it goes green and almost plows into me, yet she fricking knew she was doing something dumb.

Then the person in the first left only lane is completely side by side with me and tries to move over to my lane because they are going into highway entrance lane up ahead.

Amazed by the 2 accidents I almost had in 10 seconds I forget to get over and enter highway. Now if I was a normal idiot I would of jumped across the illegal zone with lines through it or stopped and reversed. But I am smart so I go up to the light and wait for it to go green to do a U turn. At the light on the other side is a woman in a giant SUV waiting for red to go straight, I get my green arrow and for some reason while I am turning and she is still at a red she runs the light and almost plows into me. I stopped right in the middle of the turn because I knew (hoped) she wouldnt hit me so I could stare at her for 5 seconds so she could process what a moron she is.

In all 3 circumstances an ordinary schmoe would of gotten into accidents in all 3 situations, thankfully I know how to drive.

Thanks all. It's fixable and I'll get it done right. Prob is it is driveable. Basically feel like I'm walking around with toilet paper hanging out of my pants when I'm driving the car. "Hey look at me, but for the wrong reasons...."
