Has anyone moved the cigarette lighter from the cup holder to under the glove box?

I really don't like the cigarette lighter adapter in the front cupholders. It doesn't allow me to close the lid while my phone is plugged in, and I don't use the cup holders. On my old M3, the plug under the glovebox was perfect because you can hide the wires under the trim. The problem is that the M3 CS, and probably the M4 CS, does not have a cigarette lighter under the glove box. The cutout, however, is still there.

I'd like to either move the plug from the cup holder, or better yet just install the wiring under the glove box. Has anyone done this yet?

Considering the wiring clips to the rear of the lighter assembly attached to the trim, you could essentially splice in wiring and run a 12v connection anywhere you wanted in the car.

If you car did not come with the under the glovebox lighter socket, it would be easy to purchase a trim panel that had the assembly and wire to that in place....or in parallel.

That's annoying. How much weight did it save to eliminate that 12V plug, 2 ounces?

Love the CS but some of the features removed seem kind of silly. Splicing the other power sources and adding the plug back is probably your most efficient and economical option and shouldn't be all that complicated given the cutout is still there.

Yeah, this is the least annoying CS quirk. Comfort Access is the real pain. Still love the CS though!

I'm wondering if BMW even bothered to omit the wiring harness to the fuse box ie a connector with no cigarette lighter connected to it. It seem simple enough to remove the lower panel. I'm wondering if this is the right part:

61-34-6-977-679

It goes in the center console, but it's probably the same part right?

I'm having difficulty finding those other two parts.
