Exhaust Question

Just was wondering why on my new (used 2014) X5, I have noticed when its cold outside below 30 degrees that I only see exhaust fumes coming from the driver side pipe. I see that its not a true dual exhaust but that it is one pipe from the manifold and then hits a muffler at the back and then branches to two pipes out the back bumper. Also evidence that the right side pipe gets more action because it is much more dirty with exhaust soot and when I put my hand over the passenger side I hardly feel any air coming out.

Thanks

Please

On the 35i there is a flap in the other pipe that opens up at a certain RPM. It's closed for back pressure at low RPM torque.

But if you want both to flow at all rpms then you will need MPE.

M Performance Exhaust - it's a exhaust that BMW sells as an upgrade for those who want a bit more growl and sporty tone out of their exhaust. IMHO the best exhaust option for 35i (expensive, but imho worth it)
