It is illegal in the US too.
I only use it when I am stuck on crawling traffic.
Otherwise every brake pedal release, it will turn off.

Turns out external GPS are illegal too lol. And bunch of other devices. I was even given a warning for having a phone holder suction cup near driver side windshield area. Cop said it's illegal too lol. I removed it and now I'm using a different mount, no suction cup on windshield. But yeah, it gets silly sometimes with all this rules, laws and regulations.
I remember a border officer on Canadian/USA border said I can't have a speed radar. I explained him it's a dashcam (it is really dashcam), not a radar. He thought I was tricking him lol. I told him to look up crazy russian dashcam videos - I said we all have them, it's a cultural thing lol. I was joking, but he let me go.

i used to watch some music clips in traffic , but mine system shuts off video only after 255km/h LOL

Whether or not it's illegal, it's very scary to watch while driving, I tried once only for 5 mins and I did swear to never do it again.

Yeah some provinces it's illegal to have radar detectors. Such as mine, Ontario. I believe B.C. you are allowed. I wish they would change it so we can all have them.
