No cutting required. It is practically bolt-on with the MPE. I say"practically" because it's probably not possible to solo install.
The sound is deep and loud. Here is a full review: Fabspeed Secondary catbypass x-pipe review https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1432077

It's worth it. I wrote that a while back and had to figure things out on my own which was a little frustrating. Since I have already documented my effort, others I know have had a much better experience, especially those who went to muffler shops. I had also shared my feedback with Fabspeed so I assume they made some adjustments because one of the guys I follow on Instagram has his car bagged and is always sharing his ride being lowered to the ground. That can't be done on my car without an issue.
I'm not a pro, I just do things on my own because I find it an entertaining way to save a buck. This midpipe will take your MPE to another level

Hahahaha. In efficient you wouldn’t know the difference only on cold start it’s loud for the first 30 seconds then it’s quiet as the stock midpipe. The exhaust comes to life when on the throttle in sport mode it has a much deeper sound and much more burble when slowing down.

I have this combo. It's about 25-30% louder under heavier load. Otherwise very similar to mpe driving around casually just a deeper note
