Was following this on FB, the story is that the F80's brakes went out, and he just made the straightaway as long as possible.

Serious crash. Hope everyone is OK.

Wonder what kind of event this was - maybe private? Doesn't look like a typical HPDE with windows rolled down and point bys.

yea there's no way that was an HPDE - or else if it was, they have very lax rules. Can tell just based on how everyone is maneuvering.

Don't let this deter you from the track, people. This sort of thing is only due to lack of preparation in the braking department. A proper mindset of humility, a good set of track pads and fresh high-temp brake fluid that won't boil on you is really all you need to have a fun, successful day at the track and really enjoy/learn your car.

Proof that BMWs brakes are garbage. Time to head back to the drawing board and do some more R&D

BMW M Track Days run by BMW wouldn't have E92s on the track. They only use the current lineup.

That just looks like some other track day or club race with modified cars and Porsches (Camera car). Plus the M4 douche.

HPDE's have several run groups, a few of which are open passing. Windows are typically required to be down in the states, but this is oversea's.

Hope everyone was okay. That was not fun to watch.

Brake failure is my guess. As opposed to lack of skill

Lots of people on that FB post jumping to conclusions without facts. Mechanical reasons (brakes or lines failing) can cause a driver to become a passenger very quickly. The assumption that nothing happens mechanically on the track is a heroic one and most likely held by those with little to no track experience.

Hope both parties are ok. Shit happens at the track, and I've seen far worse than this. Until news comes out with facts, lets not jump to conclusions and hope the people are ok.
