Just Bought an M3 ;)

Well, technically my lease was up and after analyzing every great car on the market I decided that this car is the best all around car ever created in my opinion so it was an easy decision to buy it out of the lease.

A little history...I leased in August 2012 and before 1,000 miles had an ESS VT2 625 supercharger, Akrapovic slip on with the infamous MRF catless mid-pipe, Stop Tech 380/365 drilled BBK and camber plates with -2.3 deg up front.

Car made 560-570 RWHP on a dynojet with this set up and then shortly thereafter I upgraded to the ESS 650 (different pulley, injectors and tune) and made 580+ RWHP at 7.4psi on 93 octane. I experimented with a water/meth injection system but gave up after it didn't help at all so it was removed.

For the first year, I used the car just for fun and it saw a number of track days and airstrip events. After a year or so of this, I liked the car so much I wanted to drive it everyday. While the MRF mid-pipe was incredible, I needed something more tame for daily driving so it was removed for the full Akrapovic Evolution catted system.

I go back and forth on driving the M3 and my Wrangler Unlimited daily, but the M3 will get some more mods as I plan to bring it out of retirement. I just bought a trunk-mount 5 gallon water/ice tank from member M33too - the same water tank he used to do his 10.4@135mph quarter mile pass with his ESS 625 kit. I will be playing around with smaller pulley sizes for more boost at airstrip events with race gas but we will see how it goes. Just taking small steps and of course like previously will document everything for you guys and gals and post up dyno results.

So I'll be sticking around here for while.

Cheers

M3 for sure. The Porsche is brutally fast but there's a lot more to a car than acceleration and track times. The Porsche is used solely for racing.

All i can do is you made my weekend for realizing and standing by whats real. Those of us who purchased or leased the last model years of production for the e9x ///M's with the F80's on the horizon did so with a purpose. No disrespect to those that bought the early model years at launch and/or anytime thereafter. Longboarder, you have represented with mods that = performance that = no excuses required. Thanks for keeping it real. I look forward to making it to a Shift Sector Event(s) sometime soon

Thanks gents.

Since I'm on the stock rod bearings, I'll be doing that soon as well. MRF will do them at the same time as the water/ice tank in a couple weeks. Then likely the subframe bushings to help this thing launch a little harder.

This car puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Like this

Congrats Longboarder.

The best 3 series M car of all time and you have one of them. Your future grandkids are gonna be like "Pops, why does it sound so different from the other cars?"
And then you will have your time to educate them a bit.

BTW, Wrangler seems like a great beater. I was totally checking those out recently. They have monster offroad capabilities and look purposeful.

Talking

It's posts like these that just confirm my desire to hold onto my car forever. I had a great morning detailing my car and then enjoyed my drive (with the kids in the back) to our local Caffeine and Gasoline meet-up, and then went to breakfast with them and got a table where I could look out and see my car in the lot. Every time I see it, even after 3 years, I think "damn, that's a beautiful machine, and it's mine..." and every time I drive it, the feeling it gives me is worth every penny i've ever spent on it.

Glad you're sticking around!

Congrats! I did the exact same thing. Bought it out of the lease and I plan to keep the car as long as possible.
