Hey Guys,

I'm new here, haven't owned a bimmer for about 10 years, my previous bimmer was an old-school E28 535i. My new 2011 135i with DCT is one mighty step up from this! (Certainly from a performance perspective)

I've owned the car for nearly 3 months, it came up with +1 liter 2 days after i picked it up (Adelaide Motors BMW sorted this no Qs asked), and then again 2 days ago, I've driven about 8,000ks

I understand that these cars do consume oil, and I live in a nice part of the Adelaide hills so it does get a squirt pretty frequently.

What are other owners experiences and is it actually a good idea to look at mods like a catch can? (If so pros / cons of this mod would be good)

Most everyone will say that burning some oil is normal, but I've had mine for nearly 90k miles and bet I've barely added the sum total of 1qt over that period of time. The car is bone stock and compared to most, I'm seldom pushing the car hard with a good combo of city and highway driving as part of my daily commute.

IF you drive it hard... you can use a one liter of oil every 3K kms or so. This is normal. Change you oil often, as many do not believe in BMW's long OCI plan. Changing your oil every 5K to 8K kms is a good idea.

Also... doing lots of short trips where the oil doesn't warm up totally can make the oil level sensor not read correctly. This is another reason why I prefer to do more frequent oil changes as I don't fully trust that BC.
