What does haters are going to hate have anything to do with the discussion? Some like the design and some don’t.I noticed that you haven’t purchased one yet.Are you just waiting for the LCI hoping for some improvements in the looks department?

There’s clearly a lot of hate for it
And most of it from current owners I don’t like the current colors offered

It’s OK if you like it.I’m not bashing anyone that does. The design just doesn’t work IMO.I think that BMW made a huge mistake choosing this particular designer for both the G42 and G87. |

So I was at the dealership today and they had a black and pony blue one in the showroom.
The black one looked so much better it was rather surprising (to me anyway). With a proper drop/wheels or spacers it would even be better as the wheel gap is rather astronomical...

I'll jump in here too since I have a deposit on a 2025 G87. The order/pricing guide is expected early June and production expected to start in August.
I love my F87. It's a daily driver except one day a year when I bring it to an HPDE event. Been to Watkins Glen and Lime Rock in 2022 and 2023 and am registered for Lime Rock next month. The M2C replaced a 2018 Camaro 2SS 1LE which I also loved. The M2 is hands down the better daily driver, mostly due to visibility and ergonomics. The one area the 1LE was more comfortable, however, was the Recaro seats. The seating surface was suede leather and ventilated, and the seats in general were more padded. On track, the 1LE was easier to drive fast, and I did get better lap times with it. The M2C is no slouch though and surprisingly, I had better top speeds with it. The #1 reason I want to go with the G87 is about the tech and extra configurability. #2 would be for the interior upgrades. A friend who lives nearby has a 2024 Toronto Red G87 manual. He gave me a ride in it and I loved it. The polished carbon fiber interior trim is sharp and the whole interior seems to be a step up from the F87. Looks-wise, I don't mind the G87. It is odd looking for sure, but I like the muscular look, and I also like the Zandvoort Blue paint. One concern I had was the different driving dynamics. On paper, the S55 torque curve reaches full torque at 2300 rpm vs. 2600 rpm for the S58. Some G87 owners said the loss of low-end torque was noticeable, but my friend said it feels the same to him, so hopefully that is the case. Part of it is also the thrill of getting a new car. So those are my main reasons for moving to the G87 - newer tech, better interior, muscular styling, and getting a new car.

Some interesting points here on both sides. I'm with Farrah on the interior and overall aesthetics of F series vs G.

Saw a couple of black G87s today on the road today, definitely the color to get if moving to the new platform.
Having said that, I've officially spotted more G87s on the road than I've ever seen F87s. Are they built in larger numbers? Has the general purchasing base come to accept the new car? Just the natural progression of sales as the car continues its life cycle? |

I get the hate for the exterior styling but do not at all understand the hate for the interior.
New BMW tech/interior is amazing. I don't mind the F87 interior at all (it's a drivers car through and through) but the G series interior is better. |

Not everyone wants all digital everything. Or tacky ///M branding/colours all over the place, or one giant screen, or no physical buttons. Not everyone cares about tech. Sure, the seats are great. Most everything else is not. It’s subjective though, so not everyone will feel the same as I do.

The giant screen was my biggest reservation aside from first seeing pics of the exterior online (which as many have stated, pics don’t do justice to how aggressive this car looks irl, especially with a proper drop and spacers). The rest of the interior is sublime and I got over the screen pretty quickly but I do wish it had physical controls for the HVAC.
