YVR-5: Saturday Night Cruise (Take 2)

YVR-5 : "The Night Riders"

September 8, 2007 @ 7:00pm
Mount Seymour Parking Lot

Ok...the last time we tried to organize this...it didn't really take off. So we're going to retry this again. We'll try to do a Saturday night cruise sometime in September. So we need hammer the details down. Logistics people!
  1. Which Saturday night do you want to cruise? (Pick from poll above...Saturday works the best for most people who work Monday to Friday)
  2. Where do we want to cruise? (Any areas we should avoid...ie too much traffic? Or do we want to pose and show off our cars down Robson Street?)
  3. Where should we meetup and at what time? (Parking lot at SFU seems ok...but campus security steps up their patrols after dark...this means NO burnouts or doughnuts...or else they will come a runnin'...might be fun to meetup around sunset between 7:00pm and 8:00pm)
  4. After cruise...wings or late food eatery. Where do we go?
Start your suggestions. We need to detail this out by the end of this week (I plan on creating a new thread by next Monday with finalized details) so that everyone has lots of advance warning and can plan ahead.

I'll start....route suggestion.

Start: SFU Parking B Lot @ 7:30pm
End: Wing Nuts, 4444 Main Street @ whatever time people get there
Between: Down Hastings Street, across Iron Worker's Memorial Bridge, back across into downtown via Lions Gate, cruise down to Robson Street together...people split up and everyone who wants to meets up at Wing Nuts.

How about starting at cypress where the last meet took place (which I missed), or Mt. Seymour? These would be "safer" venues for the guys that want to do some burnouts or drifts. As far as the rest of the route goes, an idea might be to drive to Horseshoe Bay and then take the old, winding Marine Dr. Highway back through W. Van.

Robson St might be a bit of gong show on Sat night traffic wise. I am not much for posing and I seem to recall that everyone and their dog likes to cruise that strip on Friday or Sat night.

Zeeman's Route:
Start: Mt. Seymour
End: Park Royal Mall
Between: Mount Seymour, off to Horseshoe Bay/or Whytecliff Park (if it's still open), back to West Vancouver through Marine Drive. Final photoshoot at mall parking lot.

That could work...

Are people interested in going to somewhere to eat afterwards?

I'll have to take a pass on going to eat after. Have to spend some QT with the gf.

Thanks for mapping out the routes. I tried...but I am not that web savvy.

Slightly off topic: I'm going to try to arrange another joint meetup on a weekend in October for us Canadians to go down to Washington and meetup with folks from the Seattle/Puget Sound area...keep your eyes peeled.

That's too bad...looks like the 8ths is one with the most votes so far. I will keep this open until tomorrow before setting the date down. Lock in your votes peeps!

Also Alan...we are likely going to have a US/BC meetup sometime in late Sept or mid October...so hopefully you can make it out to that instead...

Skip work Eric!

Hehe...

Yeah...I think we will be heading towards Horseshoe Bay...PM me...and I will send you my cell # and you can call us for a status update. Sun sets around 8pm these days...so likely we won't leave Seymour until then...so we aren't driving and looking at the sun...
