Need help with tire pressure sensor question
Does anyone know how the tire pressure sensor works on an 08 or newer car? I have an 06 with the old style and installed a cluster from an 09 car yesterday. It now shows a low tire warning since I assume it is looking for the actual sensors in the wheels which the 06 doesn\'t have. I am actually putting my 19\'s on in march which I bought from my brother with the sensors on them. Is this enough to clear the warning or is there another electronic item or coding needed to clear it?
Thanks |

There are pods in the wheels
Beyond 06 They are attached to the valve stem . Go to tire rack to read the explanation
they send out radio signals and are battery powered. I think they cost about 50 bucks each at tire rack . One of the ways to tell if you have them is the tire stems will be metallic. The 06's you a rotational sensor, no wheel pods. If you changed tires and the preasure is OK try running the calibration procedure mentioned in the manual. You have to drive a little bit after resetting for the new values to be calibrated into the car. There is a chance you could turn off the error with coding but it would mean no tpms I think. Thx for the replay. The 19's I am putting on have the sensors on them since they came off my bro's 08. I can live with the error for a few months if it goes away with just the sensors once I install. Just wasnt sure if there was more I needed.
