ConnectedDrive susbscription to foreign cars ?
Hi,
I wonder if anyone has ever managed to subscride a BMW ConnectDrive contract for a foreign vehicule ? I mean for a car that was first delivered in a country where the BMW ConnectDrive service was not offered. Seems like BMW would refuse to let the owner of such a vehicule subscribe to a BMW connectDrive contract even if the service would be offered in his/her country. What I heard about that is that the SIM (GSM) card in the car would not allow this without a reprog (which reprog is known to work). But I'm not sure about that. But the main reason seems to be administrative and or contractual. Any informations welcome, VodkaOne. |

I think the combox is maybe different for those countries that doesn't have telematics. It makes no sense to fit redundant hardware in BMW's perspective.

Sorry, I was thinking of foreign cars with the following options (I've been told by my dealer that option 633 is equivalent to the followings) :
609 (Pro NAV.), 644 (Bluetooth), 6FL (USB), 614 (Internet), 6NF (Smatphones music), 6NR (Apps), 6VC (Combox), 6AB (BMW Teleservices). I'm pretty sure that cars equiped with theses options have the exact same hardware as thoses with option 633. The difference might be in the software or some kind of activation or configuration inside the software. Or the difference might only be contractual. |
