I DID IT! Finally!

I finally put in a Kenwood eXcelon 9980HD and replaced my factory AMP...

This head unit is awesome! really nice. I replaced the home screen with a BMW jpg... looks pretty cool

Now all i need to do is replace my factory speakers!!??!!... Although, they sound so much better with the after market amp...

Ideas?? What speakers? Anyone??

Thanks for looking!

hey mac....i noticed the background stays when you go into the menu...might wanna try the same bmw roundel background but in black and white and with lowered exposure or maybe a smaller emblem but to the top right or something u know? it would make it a cleaner look while keeping that "originality" factor

Were you able to get your steering wheel controls to work? I still can't figure it out.

Which adaptor kit is that? The ones I've been looking at ordering all have the temp controls on the top.

Metra makes it Metra-95-9306B. Be aware though, it doesn't sit flush. The bottom edges stick out a bit.

So it's gonna be a trade off. The other kit is flush but the unit is too low (IMO) or its higher but the bottom edges of dash kit sticks out. Your choice

Other kits also seem to include a bunch of stuff; wiring extensions, adaptor to move the seat heaters to the ash tray area. But at the same time it's like $200.

Thanks for the info!
