I had a 328i with scoopes back when I was still living in Canada. From experience I would say they help a little bit when driving at high speeds 120 km/h+, but not really any lower. However it looks great if you match the colors well, for example AW+red scoopes. Let me know if you want to know more.

Just curious....
Bought and installed the Simota Intakes and Air Scoop from Mforce Design (BTW really fast delivery 2 days only)
Sounds Awesome (esp. when pull at 7k revs), Throttle Smoother but very funny my fuel consumption goes up by 2x…..
Previously doing 14++l/100km on stage 3 power box and I am doing 29++l/100km…. Driving style is the same or maybe even slower than normal due to big rain and stuff but still double??? My hardwares are still the same nothing change except the intake and scoops…. Can anyone share their experience with me…..?

Thanks in advance…….

Got some information from the people that did my tuning and installed the intake…. I checked around with some other ppl and their comments support everything….
Just to share with everyone my findings…. Because my intake is new the ecu is not fully accustom to it and therefore it assumes it requires more power to run the car… more power = more fuel….
Another thing was that performance intake requires more fuel (cold air needs more fuel it burn it… example given to me was boiling water is faster than boiling ice) so I accept this…. So it’s a gimmick when online shops or an advertisement says their intake helps consumption….
Anyway according to the tuning ppl once the ecu is used to the intake the fuel consumption should lower down….. Another way is to custom map it again which I will probably do…..
Other than this problem which is resolvable I am pretty happy with the sounds it makes and I will do this mod again if I was able to reverse time…..

Hey Ken Ken,

You are right about it but only to a certain extent!! As you may aware, our E9X Bimmer ECU has the self adaption program for any hardware mod which you've done to yr car such as Intake, Exhaust, Light weight pulley or other performance related mod! However, the adaption will take a while and it depends on how aggressive you are driving your car in memorizing the new driving habit after new hardware mod being installed in your vehicle!

Also, you are using the BMS tuning chip and all BMS products will be sustaining the ECU's self adaption feature whereby, you will be feeling the car acting a bit difference upon full adaption being engaged with your ECU! Or else, you can get a Bavarian tools to clear all old records in yr ECU which also can fastening the adaption time needed! Have fun, Buddy.....

LC – Yea the sound is addictive…. First time I heard it on a 325 triggered me to that direction… too bad HK doesn’t have a distributor….. When I first told the garage I am getting simota they were very skeptical because its Taiwan brand and persuaded me to get the AFE or Groupie M instead…. But when they see it before the install and after the install they were all for it…. Same design as the groupie m and better intake sound…..
ps/ sounds best at 7000revs.....

335 – you have that tool???? Hahahhaa come help me reset at the park when you free…. Anyway I tried doing the 10sec step thingy but didn’t hear the reset click maybe I done it the wrong way….. Waiting for terry to release the custom map once it’s out I believe we would have more fun flying….

Hey Ken Ken,

Yes, I have the tool whereas, the Bavarian is only allowing 2 x users ECU code check up whereby, I cannot add another user as one of my friend already filled the missing spot long time ago.....Sorry, Buddy....

By the way, nice pick of yr Intake Scoope.....

NP... problem solved already after burning off 1/2 tank last night... this morning add petrol before work and now my reading stands at 13.8l/100km on stage 3 and pretty much the same road....
anyway i think problem is caused by the ecu not fully understand the new mod.... but still think that fuel saving is still a gimmic
