Anyone have BMW Assist w/o Idrive? I have a few questions about how it will work before I install it on my '07 335I w/o idrive.

-Is Teleservice available with only Idrive equiped vehicles? Where it will transmit vehicle status, and services needs to BMW?

-When you get directions from them, can they send it directly to your IPHONE if linked with bluetooth?


I have read all the materials from BMW on it, however, they make it sound like only vehicles with Idrive will have the options.

I have BMW Assist without iDrive. When I pushed the button to activate it, the guy on the other end confirmed "you are driving up the onramp from X street to the 405 freeway headed south", which is exactly where I was when he said that. I have a "service" button if I go into the BMW assist menu on the stereo where I think I can get information about nearby service. I doubt it works any differently than the iDrive.

Regarding the iPhone, I've never heard of such a feature. I do know that directions require an additional subscription beyond the basic BMW Assist package.

BMW assist is fully functioning in my car without navigation.

So you are installing the Bluetooth module, integrated phone and GPS?

I think it's odd that a car without navigation has both of those installed, as mine does from the factory.

Hands-free phoning is now something I can't live without. You will love it.

Assist w/o iDrive certainly works on my 09.

I'm pretty sure the iPhone doesn't get anything over BT. The BT is only set up for voice or sound. No data.

On my '09 I got four years free.Don't know what current (or past) policy is/was.Plus you've obviously gotta confirm that your vehicle is equpped with BMW Assist capabilities.
