Which of these tires would you recommend?
I'm shopping around for tires for some aftermarket wheels, and have come up with the following brands.
Kumho Ecsta SPT Falken FK 452 Hankook Ventus V12 General Exclaim UHP I don't race or auto-X... I'm just looking for any experience, comments, or reviews on which of the four is the better tire for an everyday driver (noise, traction in rain, wear, etc). Thanks! |

I've had generals and really disliked them. They get good ratings on Tire Rack, but I don't see how. I'm running Falkens now and they are a better tire. I think the sidewall is a little soft for the weight of e9xs when cornering at speed, but for everyday driving, they've worn well.

Lots of votes for the Falkens. They're reasonably priced too. I'm definitely looking for something around the $700-$900 range (for a set of 4 staggered tires) as opposed to the $400 per tire route. Especially when we're talking about a car that I daily drive.

452 is the best of those tires. Kumho's are loud, generals don't handle especially well, and hankook I have no experience with.

Yea I'd like to know more about the Hankook tires since I've seen their commercials. Are they a Korean company? Sounds like it from the name. Anybody have any reviews / personal experience with the Hankook tires?
p.s sorry for the thread jack |

The kooks are not bad tires. Used Z2's on the track and they handles pretty damn well.
If this is your only set of tires then consider spending a few more $$. Why handicap your car's performance with mediocre tires? For a around 250 a tire Nitto makes the NT05 in our size (19"). Sick performance tires, but will wear out pretty quick (200 utq). Or do what I did, have 2 sets of tires. 19" for day to day with decent commuting tires and a set of 18"s with good rubber for serious fun. |
