Coolant flush covered under warranty?

Car is in for $30k mile service. New plugs + bunch of other stuff. All covered under warranty except a required coolant flush. Accurate?

Yes, but the question is if you need it or not. All scheduled maintenance is included in the 3/36 plan based on my experience. However, it is my understanding that BMW no longer mandates the coolant flush every 2-4 years. It is now “lifetime” and that might be why your dealer is charging you for it. I wouldn’t bother doing it unless you are keeping the car for 5+ years. Many mechanics suggest checking the coolant PH level to determine when it needs to be changed.

He is saying it is required because they are doing the spark plugs and basically performing a “tune up”. Sounded fishy to me. Here is what they are doing.

They are lying. I can’t tell you how many M spark plug changes I have had and I never did coolant flush with any of them. This includes M3, M4, X5M, and X6M.

Wonder what they will say if I refuse the flush.

What can they say? BMW free maintenance plan must be done according to the CBS.

That's a lie, download the maintenance pdf from here https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...06&postcount=5 coolant falls under long term rated fluids, typical dealer shenanigans. If it was mandatory it would be in the free maintenance plan.

The only bad thing I have seen is they may document it in a way that shows up on the carfax which sucks when you go to sell it.

Point that man to the word RECOMMENDS on Line 2 and nicely decline that item.

If they push the issue then ask the service manager why they are requiring a “dealer recommended” service when BMW doesn’t.

All of us saw that. But OP is saying that the SA verbally said it’s required. He just needed outside feedback that the SA was lying.

Look, it’s recommended and that service is now on sale too, so you’re getting a great deal. 😂
