Help me choose brake pads for f32 440i xdrive

Hello,

I've been reading various posts seeking opinions on brake pads, but I'm still struggling to make a decision. I own an f32 440i xdrive with M Sport brakes, equipped with drilled Zimmerman rotors, and I've been using ATEs pads. Overall, I've been satisfied with their performance in terms of pedal feel and stopping power. However, the only concern I have is that they tend to produce some noise. Nevertheless, I can live with the noise and it's not a major issue for me. Similarly, I don't mind brake dust.

Recently, I came across positive reviews for HAWK HB765B.664 brake pads, but I have a few reservations. Firstly, the size of these pads is slightly different from the stock ones, being 1.1mm narrower and 0.8mm shorter. Additionally, I noticed that the metal plate for installation is missing, which makes me wonder if they might cause rattling. Could someone confirm if my assumptions are correct?

My mechanic has suggested ATE, ATE Ceramics, or Brembo as alternative options. Considering my driving style, I can be a bit aggressive on the road, although I don't plan on going to a track. However, I will be embarking on a trip to Transfagarasan, Romania in about a month, so I thought it might be worth considering something slightly more sporty. Do you have any recommendations?

Thank you in advance!

Can you share more details why you selected ATE brake pads instead of OEM M Sport brake pads? What wasn't working - at least in your perspective as a driver - with OEM M Sport brake pads?

I purchased the car second hand, and the OEM brake pads had 1000km left, so I don't have opinions on them. My mechanic suggested ATE, and I went with them.

Since brake dust isn’t a concern, OEM M Sport brake pads remain a viable choice. These softer brake pads offer an aggressive initial bite and tend to preserve rotor life at their own expense.
