I need brake pads and potentially rotors, which of these brands should I go for?
Hi guys
I have a '16 330i and I am going to be replacing my brake pads and possibly rotors in a couple of days. I haven't checked exactly which ones need replacement yet but I know at least the front brake pads need replacement. My country is going through a lot of economic difficulties and since all the parts are imported, they cost way more than their retail price and I have to make-do with what's available locally. I am not sure if I need rotors yet, but I asked about the brands and prices available just so I can make a decision now or later on: Front brake pads: Metelli ($80), ATE ($85), ICER ($57), OEM ($165) Rear brake pads: ICER ($40), Woking ($40), Textar ($65) Front rotors: OEM ($175), Zimmerman ($175), HF ($124), Fremax ($98), TRW ($105), Febi ($115) Rear rotors: OEM ($115), Zimmerman ($126) So these are the choices available locally with their approximate price after currency conversion, which combination should I go for? And if it ends up being just front or rear brake pads, which brand would be the best among them? Thanks a lot! Last edited by tarekelsakka; 05-27-2023 at 11:13 AM.. |

For me i'd try and match the front and rear pad manufacturer and rotor manufacturer if you're doing it all at once.
The brands i've seen as OEM to BMW over the years is ATE, Textar, TRW and Zimmerman. Textar are OEM for the F80 M3 pads and probably others of that generation. ATE and an industry leader too and OEM. When I did brakes on my E90 M3 they were TRW discs as OEM, on my E63 M6 they were Zimmerman. So those would be my recommendations. |

Hawk 5.0 Streets are a commonly used pad here in the f30 forums. I use them. Excellent braking and very little dust, and the dust is light gray and less sticky
