Anyone gone from M340i Xdrive MHT (pre LCI) to i4 M50?
I'm not asking for an in-depth comparison, I'd just like to ask what, if anything, you don't like about the i4 compared with the M340i.

We have an M440i as well as the i4.
The i4 makes the M440 feel pedestrian because of the instant response from the accelerator. The M440i makes a better noise, but then that's an obvious one. Our M440i was a factory order, so I have everything I wanted in it, M seats, sunroof, comfort pack etc. The M50 was a cancelled order and is in totally basic form, but is pretty well specced anyway with the HUD and memory seats etc. If I could have amended it, I would have definitely added the M seats and the comfort pack, as I am constantly walking away and forgetting to lock the car because the other one is self locking. M440i is a bit more nimble, and still feels more like a "real" car than the M50, but both are great to drive, and the M50 is through my Ltd co as a company car so my man maths has HMRC actually paying for it by way of my reduced corporation tax bill on the back of some profits being spent on the lease costs. |

I had a '20 M340 and have an i4M50 on order and have test driven a few.
The M340 is a great car... probably the best in it's price range. The M50 of course feels much faster because of the instantaneous torque. But it is quite a bit heavy and you can feel it in the corners. |

Thanks for the responses.
Pleased to hear that the opinions on the i4 M50 aren’t negative. I’m pretty sure my next car will be all-electric, and I’d like to stick with BMW. I’m not a fan of SUVs and so the i4 M50 is the most likely contender ATM. |

I had a M340i xDrive and now an i4 M50.
You didn't ask for a detailed review so I'll summarize: The handling between the cars is very close, they "feel" about the same weight. The car maintains its composure surprisingly well in sharp turns, feels more like a 3,700 lbs sport sedan vs 5,000+ lbs. The biggest difference is obvious and that is the instant torque in the M50 that is addicting. I will not be able to go back to another Mxxx after owning the i4 M50. |

As someone that came from a RWD 335i, there is a zero chance that I go back to an ICE car.
I have the M50 with 20" wheels and I like how it feels. My 335i had 19" wheels with tires really close in width. I had 245/35-19 and 275/30-19 on the 335i. I did have a square setup for wheels though 19x9 all around. I also had F3x Brembo brakes with slotted and dimpled rotors and Bilstein B8 shocks on the stock sport springs. The car was firm, precise in steering and the brakes could pop your eyeballs from your head. Anyway, I have driven all the cars in-between my E90 and this car and I hated the steering and the foot well of the F3x. The steering reminded me of a 1970s Buick. It was vague, soft and the car needed to catch up. Very different from my E90. The M50 although about 1300 lbs heavier than my E90, it doesn't feel that heavy. The steering while not like my E90 is pretty good, and better in sport. I just leave it in sport. I have lowered my M50 with the Eibach kit. It's definitely firm now. Feels a lot more anted and the steering feedback from the chassis is good. Brakes? Not much to say except until you get used to them they can be a bit grabby. But they stop. Boy do they stop. The mix of Regen and real brakes is really good. When the rotors need replacing, I'll upgrade to the slotted and dimpled sport rotors. I was offended when my car was in for the filler flap repair,; I actually had to stop at a gas station and of all things, pump smelly gas. My daughter has been driving BEV since high school. She never wants an ICE car. I know you were asking about people that came from an xDrive but I figured my two cents might be valuable also.
