Speedometer off by 4 to 5 mph
Just put front brakes and rotors on my 325i. It is a 2006 with 49,000+ actual miles on it. It has stock 16" wheels and 205 tires on it too. After test driving, I ran all codes and have come up with no codes (clean and green on my scanner (Creader Elite for BMW 2023 addition)). The speedometer appears to be off by some 4 to 5 mph. Yes I know it has saved me some speeding tickets here locally, but I'd like to have it work like it should. Can this error be corrected by coding? Having digital speed shown on the cluster doesn't interest me either. BTW, I really like this car. It's nice to drive something that handles and accelerates like a car aught to. I happened on to my Bimmer by accident and am glad I did. Enjoy the forum too.

Looking to do this as well. Has anybody done this with Perfekt Toolbox by making the values for real speed and displaying speed the same as shown by this thread:

The source of the discrepancy might have been some stupid regulation in Europe about regardless of winter and summer tires (or just all available optional tire sizes for the model) that the speedo should not exceed the actual speed.
I do not know if all winter tires are slightly larger in diameter than summer tires, but that resulted in summer or all-season tires reading fast because of the smaller tire diameter. This problem is annoying and just downright stupid to even have it. Just show the actual speed a$$hole! See also NCS Dummy: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=18 |

My US e90 displays a different mileage than what the OBD port is saying. 2-3 mile difference.
It can be corrected with coding. I can check tomorrow in what module and what line of coding has to be changed. |

As a follow up to my original post above, I thought I'd pass along a bit of wisdom (yes even old people can learn). I bought a Creader scan tool (for BMW) and am now seeing the error of my ways. Looked at Bimmer-Code on line and now realize why everyone seems to like it so much. Anyhow, I now have a scan tool that really does a lot, but not nearly as much as I could have had had I waited. BTW, am leaving speedo as is too. Seems like our city fathers saw fit to install more traffic cameras (including one near my home) and I expect my speedo error might actually save me money in the long run. Again, thanks for the responses.
