Like the XC40 is it possible to pre heat the seats and car remotely before entry on the U11 X1?

Yes you can turn it on via the app or set it through the idrive menu.

Sorry I forgot to add that it is available on my 30e. I am not sure about the ICE engines.
I was getting some ear ache at the time.

For the phev is for sure - i guess for the ICE engine would mean remote start of the car or to use the car battery like the aux heating

Pre ventilation is available according to manual. Don’t know if same on all models though.

If you have an iOS device it’s available in the App Store with the BMW drivers guide app. I’m sure there’s one for Android too but I can’t verify

I was under the impression that for ICE vehicles you needed remote start to cool/heat, otherwise it’s just the fans that turn on?

That is my understanding too that’s why I have posted the link to show how it switches on the fans and can use any residual heat. Probably not going to be any use if parked outside in winter overnight though. BMW used to do a auxiliary heater as an extra but don’t know if that is still the case.

Not on UK models with a conventional engine (ICE).

Remote start of ventilation is all that is permitted remotely, which uses any residual heat/cooling left in the heating/air-conditioning system.

As I understand it, UK law prohibits leaving a vehicle unattended with the engine running.

UK Volvo XC40 starts engine, screen defrost, heated seats and steering wheel remotely from the app. Lovely and warm within 15mins on a freezing day. Car cannot be driven without pushing the Start Button once inside the car.
