My wife said hers won't update due to starter battery being too low. Weird, as she just got back from an 850km round trip. Dealer visit on the horizon (don't care much about the update not being installed, but the battery is cause for mild concern)

How's the weather in your area? I wonder if the battery is suffering effects from the cold. Is the battery insulated or equipped with a warmer since it's not mounted in the trunk like other BMW's? Forgive me if this is a stupid line of questioning, it doesn't get cold here and I'm more used to worrying about heat soak sitting in traffic more than anything else.

Nope, not stupid line of questioning....weather/temps have been great, better than most winters. Zero c today...tons of snow last week, first dump of the year. Vehicle is parked in the garage every night as well.

As noted, dealer visit on the horizon when I get a chance, in the meantime, will be connecting to the trickle charger today or tomorrow for a few hrs

Darn, was hoping it would be something as simple as that. My camera and drone batteries drain noticeably quicker when using them in the winter in Japan so that's what made me think of that. Hoping it's just a simple warranty fix!

I'm not terribly worried...I've seen similar messages on my other BMW's over the years. I may just use the trickle charger and see if it returns, then won't bother the dealer with it

It's probably a staggered release so it doesn't overwhelm the servers if I had to guess.

^This. It certainly hasn't surfaced in the UK yet, not for our car at any rate.

Completed the update this morning. A few more hiccups than the previous one.

The car no longer recognized any Digital Keys (even with phone docked) or even the physical keys. I had to hold up a key fob to the right of the steering column to start it for the next three trips. This evening it all started working normally again, don't need the key fob, just my phone as before. Weird glitch after the update, but glad it resolved itself.

The same happened to me right after the upgrade. I deleted the Digital Access from my phone and added it back, everything worked normally after that.

I thought it was an isolated issue for me… glad it got fixed itself for you.

Did my update late last night and it went fine. After the system rebooted it took a minute or two for the drive recorder and interior cam to come back online, and the digital key came back on about a minute later. Update took about 10 minutes from start to reboot, and all my settings were preserved as far as I can tell.
So far I can’t tell if anything changed except the software update description.

issue after upgrade 11/2022.64

Hi everyone, yesterday I installed the new version 11/2022.64, practically until yesterday I hadn't had any problems with the car, perfect car.
After the installation took place last night, this morning I take the car and I realize that Alexa doesn't work and the weather doesn't report the temperatures, and so I started to investigate, and I realized that the car is completely without a data connection, I tried to doing a factory reset, but it didn't solve anything, in fact it made the situation worse, as now I can't reach my BMW ID again, did someone who has the car install it, did they have any problems?
What do you recommend to do, I'm annoyed to leave the car at the dealership for innumerable reasons, the most important of which is work, I'd like to be able to solve it myself if it's possible...

I'm not sure if mine is related, but I posted the other day about how I had a transmission issue and I couldn't reverse. I realize that I just updated my software a day or two prior. The dealership called back and said that my transmission issue wasn't a mechanical but a software issue. Not sure if this makes sense but I'm also still trying to wrap my head around it

The My BMW app tells me that the update was uploaded to the car this morning. I have not applied it yet, not sure if I dare given the recent experiences of other forum members with this "upgrade".

When I did my update, everything went as normal, but took a few minutes to reconnect online. Other than that, my car is still running fine. I also found out that the automated emergency braking works great today when a dog jumped out in front of my car on the highway....

I posted this on another thread earlier this morning:

Yesterday, after a short journey to see my parents, on returning home, I was prompted to install a software update for ID8. I parked up and set the update running and locked the car (said it would take about 20minutes).
I just posted this in another thread:

This morning, there was a message saying the update was successful; however, when prompted to login again to the BMW Cloud, it failed to do so, depsite several attempts. I know I am using the correct login details!

Anyone else had the same problem? (UK spec. model by the way)

...so it looks like I'm a victim of a dodgy update now

Sorry to hear this. I am even more reluctant to apply the update now. Might be worth trying an iDrive reset and/or putting the car into deep sleep mode to see if it jogs some kind of "reset".

We have lost Spotify and RTTI on a few occasions. I put this down to some kind of outage in BMW's back-end services. It usually comes back after a day or two.

I had this as well, but I’m also the guy whose garage is next to my kitchen, and the digital key in my phone gets detected when i go to make coffee. The constant waking/sleeping draws power that needs to come from somewhere. I also don’t drive much so the car doesn’t get a chance to fully charge.

Maybe the car needs to have a second battery for all of the electronics…

I ended up buying a trickle charger which I’m attaching when I know I wont be driving for 3 or 4 days. While a bit of a hassle its less annoying than killing the battery.
