Just did first DIY home oil change on the M3, 5k miles after break in

Just did my first at home oil change on the M3, 5k miles after break in (obviously got my break in service done at dealership). It was such a breeze compared to my x3mc.

Nice. I知 likely not taking my car back to the dealer for free oil changes. Always seems to be some drama or neglect.

Did you go with the BMW oil? I知 guessing resetting the oil interval is done through the stalk switch?

I used mobil 1, approved oil. If you go to your main screen, it is under the car settings. Super easy to reset

The iDrive oil setting is just to remeasure, correct? I recall a sequence by putting the car into diagnostic mode (3 presses on the start button) then going through a few steps to reset the actual interval.

Hmm, tell me more. I'm guessing I go the same place you do.

I have the balance of the 3yr/36k mile maintenance plan (til Aug 2024). My next one is due Sept 2023 but I was thinking of doing a "peace of mind" oil change myself sometime in the next couple months. Maybe we can knock both of ours out at the same time in your barn.

Haha, we'll chat soon and I'll give you the run down on my two last visits...

The barn it is! My annual is coming up in March.

For my M2C I did 5k oil change intervals between the free dealer oil service. Filter was right up front with easy access. Could do the oil service in 45 minutes easily. The S58 is a bit more of a pain in the ass with the oil filter buried under the coolant reservoir. I will be doing a 5k change in March.

Sometimes I wonder how many G80/82 cars are lurking in tidewater....

We should all meet sometime.... Casey BMW in Newport News has always treated me well...
