Remote Software Upgrade (version 22.07)

Hi I just see that a new version of the software is available for my M135i. Did someone know what the « optimization of the turbo regulation » exactly is ?

Since most of us here are not that fit with french, it's hard to even read this text. But I will look into it, maybe I find something.

Edit: Hmm, can't seem to find anything in the release notes for this update concerning any changes on the turbo system.

Thank you for your reply.
I suppose this update is something linked to efficiency rather than performance…

About halfway down the list. The description in the English release says: "Quality improvement: Turbocharger control optimisation"

Doesn't sound like the wishful thinking from people who seem to be hoping for MORE POWER or bigger bangs and pops.

Yeah, Google translate helped me out.
But there won't be more power in this iteration of the B48, since it's already pretty much on it's limit. Hence why there are almost no tunes available for this car.

Agreed. I get depressed by the people who buy a car, knowing its limitations, and then obsess about making it "better" while ignoring the potential loss of warranty or longevity, not to mention the infantile need for louder noises.

Anyone faced a problem where the car doesn't connect to the phone in "Application" mode?

I've got Bluetooth and WiFi connections, but the "Application" one is greyed out. Removing the phone and pairing it again numerous times didn't change anything.

"Application" connection is needed for the Software Update to be transfered to the car. I use Samsung Android phone, tried two different ones, BTW, no luck.

No problem for me (I have an iPhone). The « My BMW app » transfered automatically the update to the car. BTW when sitting in the car you have to open the « My BMW app » (after the update is done on your phone) and then the update is automatically transfered to the car. Do you use the latest version of the BMW app?

That was it, I had outdated version of My BMW app. Thanks for that suggestion.

The update (2022/07) was successfully installed in my wife's 120d (2021)
The problem is that since the automatic activation of the heated seat no longer engages
Reboot ID7, deleted and resynchronized the driver profile but nothing happens.
The options are however checked in air conditioning and/or in the personal preferences (habis) with 5C° of adjustment (currently 1C°).
I changed the temperature, restarted several times but nothing

I was about to update my wife’s 118i and saw this. I’m sure I’ve had this before on my 3 series but the ID reboot fixed it. Did you resolve it?

Are you saying the options are there to set below a certain temp but it just doesn’t turn on?

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, I hadn't seen yours.

Yes I had done a reset of the idrive the same day, but it was always the same.

After 2 or 3 days the automatic seat heating came back as before she told me. (ajusting the temparure to active it)
I guess there was a delay between with the finalization of the update

The turbo optimisation is BMW's attempt to fix the wastegate actuator issue on the B48 engine. It hasn't fixed the issue on mine.

It affects the M135i and the M235i xdrives.

The wastegate chatters when accelerating swiftly.

I made a quick and dirty video but you can hear it

Hopefully mine is OK since day one. Strange that the update didn’t solve this problem…
