So parking in my spot in a 2 car garage is a chore. Usually my wife will coach me from the stairs or I'll have to keep getting in and out of the car to check distance to the wall and staircase.

I have the Parking Assistance Package, but I haven't used it to it's full potential. However, is it a system I can trust?

We're talking 2-5 inches from the side of the wall. 1-2 inches from the staircase. 1-2 inches from the garage door. Not a lot of room for error.

When I have the time, I'll put some effort into making it full proof and looking into:

Cameras
Curved mirrors
Lasers

Can anyone chime in as far as their experiences in tight spots?

Thanks

With that little space I would just put pool noodles up.

Why not park it once exactly as you want and use the record feature to do it automatically every time after? I think that is an option.

I am in a very tight spot. Put speed bumps on the ground to know when to stop. Your sides scare me. One wrong move and you swipe the the wall. I do not trust the cameras 100%

Not sure I follow. Is this a function from the Parking Assistance Package? Do I play back the recording as I'm backing in again?

Yes, this is an option I forgot to mention. Also thinking about running a couple of speed bumps end to end along the wall but need something short and on an angle so the rims are not making contact.

Like this? It's to ensure my wife parks her car correctly. Came out of an unfortunate incident where my wife ran one of her older cars into the side of one of my older cars.

It's this thing on Amazon: https://a.co/9K3zytK

Speaking of wives. I'll need a set for the other wall and her X7.

If you want to protect door edges from banging on the wall when opened:
https://a.co/d/9VEYYrJ

One less thing to worry about even if you have PPF protecting door edges.

Unfortunately our garage is so tight, the only doors we can open is the middle area.

I believe it would be easier to park in a phone booth than trying to park in that garage.

Parking in the garage gives you an appreciation for how wide the front fenders are. Always scares me a little backing in knowing they stick out so far from the door. That said i find the sensors to be really sensitive. Mine solid beep and I'm still half over half of a foot from the wall.

I believe there is an option you can select when reversing the car into a spot for the car to record the path using GPS. Then, it can auto park to the exact spot for you, following the same path it previously recorded. I certainly can't vouch for the accuracy, and what if something is off one time? Still, test it out somewhere in a parking lot and see how it goes. That would be an incredible feature for you if it works well!

This is the correct answer. They will help protect the car (and walls/stairs) from damage, and if you arrange them vertically, you'll be able to assess visually when you've made contact.

No, it doesn't work like this. What you are referring to is Backup Assistant, my dad's G05 has it. When parking straight into the spot, then selecting reverse, it remembers the path that you took one to one, you only have to control throttle. Useful to get out of a dead end or if he were to be able to pull straight into the garage. It doesn't work for him because he has to back in. It does not function forward.

The GPS feature you are thinking of is related to the cameras. There is the ability to set a waypoint where a certain camera view is automatically shown when reaching that point. However, this may be useful for OP.

The backup assistant is part of Parking Assistant Plus w/ the 360 cameras.

Similarly tight for me (maybe couple of inches more). I staples foam (the stuff they usually put under carpeting) to the walls to avoid anyone accidentally opening the door into the wall. Toughest when you have a bad parking day and then have to back it up with very little wiggle room. I do not trust the auto park to do the job :-(.

Not sure .. all cars are always backed in in our garage. The rear right of her rear bumper hit the driver-side door and a bit of the rear door behind it as she backed in. I buffed the scratches off her paint myself. There was some $2500 in damage paid out of pocket to fix on my car.
