Metal in oil filter

Not to scare anyone lol. But on my last M2 comp I had a lot of metal flakes in my filter shortly after oil change and she had 12k miles on her. I haven't done the oil change yet since the first service was don at 1400 miles and its now at 5k. I've purchase a new filter and going to pull out the one that is in there just to see. Kind of nervous especially since my build date falls in line with the bearing recall. Anyway I will post finding soon, but was wondering how everyone else's metal amounts are in their filters.

Do you get much oil out of the filter when you remove it? Isn't it on the top of the motor and upside-down as opposed to a filter on a Ford truck. I've never done a change on my G82 myself, or my F82 for that matter.

Thats actually the best part about it regarding ease of oil changes, but in theory its not good since it drains back the crap that was in the filter itself. Unless it has a check valve which I think the new filters do now. Not sure, but to answer your questions its less messy than removing from a Daza motor lol

5k miles Filter removed, Here's what its inside.

So.. while there is some small metal I've seen a lot worse. I know the first service was at 1400 miles, but I don't know if they change the oil and filter or just diff oil? Regardless here it is. My last M2 comp was so much worse and a lot more fine particles compared to this. There are a few larger pieces in there but thin. Whats interesting is my build date was smack in the middle of the bearing recall but never one of the listed vins that needed it. Needless to say I'm not concerned based on other oil filters I've pulled over the passing years. You should see how bad the gt500 was, omg I've never seen so much metal lol. Anyway just sharing with you guys!
