Things I learned today about my M3...

I can activate m1 or m2 mode before the car starts, so the valves are open upon starting the car (waiting for the arrival of my valve controller to come in)

Three times clicking "lock" on my fob starts the car

ACC is amazing on the highway

Anyone else figure out something cool recently?

I believe clicking "lock" three times doesn't start all cars in general but only those that have it equipped? I just bought a G80 M3 Competition xDrive, I have to check tomorrow if that works

If you have the executive package, you most likely have the remote start. Just make sure that you go into the options in the idrive, and set it to active, otherwise it will not work.

Manual transmission cars do not get remote start.

I am very OCD about when I open my windows. I want them all lined up and opened the same amount. Learned that I can ask myBMW to open all of them half way! Love it!!

Holding shift up or down paddles will sequentially shift car up or down. No more single pull to up shift or down shift.

I think he means if you just hold whatever shifter you want down, it will keep dropping/raising gear by gear until you let go.

Gotcha. Ya holding the down paddle selects the lowest available gear. Pretty cool

It doesn’t do that though. Holding the left paddle shifts immediately to the lowest possible gear and holding the right paddle puts the transmission to D mode.

No, they’re referring to the Siri type assistant built into the car. She can also adjust most settings (A/C, seat heater, etc).

Oh I see. I havent tried. It use to be that you had to have your pedal mashed 100% for it to "kick down" and drop multiple gears. I'll have to try it.

Thanks for the education. I learn something new about this car a lot..lol.

it still has the kickdown, but that works in D mode. once you touch the paddle then you are in temporary S mode and the kickdown no longer does anything.

huh. interesting. I'm going to try all of this. To be honest, I just cruise mine. I'm a boring driver these days...lol.

I remember my 991.2 porsche had PDK kick down, and then they did a car update that removed it and forced us to use D mode. I use to use kickdown in my 911 all the time. I was mad when they took it away.

Interesting to see BMW seems to have the same setup now.
