F40 118i Interior Fan Noise

Has anyone had any issues with the above?

My old dear said her fan was noisey in the car when she used the A/C max mode, I just explained that the fan is going flat out and that's why.

She then said its not that kind of noise so I popped down and had a look. I tried it out and all was well. I told her this and she looked puzzled.

I told her to go out, start the car and try again. She said it's still noisey. I went out for the 2nd time and guess what, it sounds like a diesel engine! It's only 18 months old and 3k miles!

Anyone else had this?

Apparently, turns out the air conditioning system is f**ked, it's got a leak, not great after only 3k miles and 18 months old!

It needs the urgent attention of a repairer before it gets worse

It's booked in for next Monday/Tuesday but I really don't think the air con is the issue.

The air con is ice cold, there are no smells, it's just the fan which sounds like something has broken off it or the bearings are shot. It makes the noise with increased fan speed irrespective of whether the air conditioning is on or off..... I think BMW are hiding something

Don't see what would motivate them to hide anything as it doesn't seem to be commonly reported on so no reason to hide anything.
At least they are investigating it and going to conduct some repairs, fingers crossed they do resolve it...

Turns out it's nothing to do with the air conditioning, it's the fan that's knackered as I told them! Not good for a 18 month old car with 3k miles. Part is on back order which makes me wonder if loads are having to get replaced

It happens unfortunately, components can prematurely fail. At least they've got to the bottom of it...
