F82 owner. Planning to upgrade to G82 vs P car (911 GTS)??
Hi guys
I have 18' F82 comp. Car has 33 k miles. Planning to upgrade. Want to hear from people who upgraded from F82 to G82 and if 911 GTS (definitely expensive than G82) is going to be a good alternative to G82. What is the current wait time to get a new G82 from order to delivery? Thanks

Right now wait times for order to delivery seem to be 6 to 12 months for a G8x...and getting worse by the day. I've been on a waiting list for a month and many have been waiting several months for an allocation. I basically gave up on finding MY22. Most likely you are looking at trying to secure a MY23 as most 22 allocations are gone or hard to find. So if you find a MY23 allocation, you would be looking at an July/August build at the earliest and then all the other QC stuff and shipping...you are talking fall delivery at the earliest...but more likely winter. It's a S-show right now.

@masab321: Isn't the GTS an easy $60k more and less practical by most measures? I'm not sure what kind of feedback you're looking for here. Reassurance that the GTS will be faster? Yes. That the BMW will be more usable as a DD? Yes.

Some good info here, not apples to apples, but great objective input from owners of both: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1909343

I have considered this option while I wait for my G83 which is sitting at the port and if it gets past July I might bail out; but the situation over at Porsche let alone getting a GTS ordered is far worse than BMW, especially after loosing a ton of their cars in that drowned ship. Good news is I do have a 22' g80 that I picked up early feb at a premium out of desperation… it made me a feel a lot better and I love the car, but it's not what I wanted.

Porsche has been making a lot of folks mad lately. I bought a 991.2 GTS, 718 GT4, and 718 GTS and still cannot secure an allocation. They also want $25K markup. Meanwhile, sales guys are making more than an MD without even trying. |

I upgraded from F90 to G82
I didn't go 911 route cause I still need usable back seats for school run. And having two cars is just a waste, I barely have time to drive one.

However bad BMW wait times are, the GTS wait will probably be way worse. I was allocated a Cayenne S in early February for a May build, my dealer now has absolutely no clue as to when the car will even be built. 911s are even worse than Cayennes due to the sheer amount of people waiting for the handful that will be built. And of course, more the reason for Porsche dealers to ask five-figure markups for whatever scarce allocations out there.
But if you're asking about cars, why would you not get a 992 GTS over a G82 unless you need usable rear seats. The G82 probably gives you 90% of the performance and utility at 60% of the cost, but the 911 was never about value.

Thanks a lot guys. I don't have a GTS allocation. I have contacted few Porsche dealers and wait time for 992 GTS is anywhere from 12-24 months. Dealers are asking for 1-5k deposits. ADM vary from dealers to dealers. Some ask and some don't.
I have a Toyota Tacoma as my daily and using F82 as my second/weekend car. I am not in any hurry to upgrade at this stage so that's why I can wait for up to a year or more. But just confused weather to stay in M-lineage and upgrade to a G8x vs paying much more and going for a P car.

While it's not EXACTLY a F82 Comp, this is my experience coming from a F80 M3 CS:
https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1907604 If you are looking for a coupe, and the GTS is available to you and within your budget, I think that's the way to go.

If you think the waitlists are long for a G8x, get ready to double that time for pretty much any 992 model. Between the ship of VW products going down and the major supply chain issues Porsche is facing, you are going to wait a year at a minimum. I have a 992 S on order from one of the larger dealership in the northeast. I will be getting the car for MSRP, only because I have bought several cars from them in the past and I have MY17 911 to trade in. The car was ordered in November as a MY22. Spoke with the GM at the dealership last week and all MY22s that have not yet stated production have now been pushed to MY23. Furthermore this large dealership will not even accept deposits for any model 992 at this time.
If you can find a GTS, plan on an ADM of at least 50k so now your looking at a 200k car. Honestly if you can even find an 992 S your looking at at and ADM of 25-50. Turbos ADM 75-100 and GT3 ADM of 100k+ depending on options. Try to get an allocation for a G8x. Less then half the price with 90% of the performance and you'll be able to enjoy the car in a much shorter period of time. Hopefully I'll get my allocation shortly (number 3 at an m certified dealership) and it'll help me pass the time until the new 911 is here. Who knows I may like the car so much I'll simply sell the 911 for a huge profit!
