G82 Comp Xdrive vs G83 Comp Xdrive

After a lot of test drives and thoughts, fully committed to get a G8x as my next car coming from an F80 M3.

Eliminated:
Supra
Gr 86
F90 m5
M850i
Cayman S
C63
LC 500
RCF

All of the other cars had limitations and the G8x gave the best balance. Now I am deciding on whether to go with a G82 or a G83. While I would love a g80 M3, it is impossible to secure an allocation. The G82 and G83 are much easier to get. I have never owned a convertible before. Would like the thoughts between the two:

G82 - cheaper, lighter, safer (due to potential slashing)
G83 - different/less common, I live in texas so I can use top down, looks sexier in my opinion

Any thoughts on resale value down the road, maintenance, other factors? This will be a daily driver.

I have a G83 on order and I too have the same questions! If the car ever shows up I’ll let you know.

I just got my G83 yesterday. As far as resale it’s an M car. They normal don’t hold a great resale value. Don’t know if their will be any other maintenance. With the top up you don’t really know your in a vert. Cabin seems quiet. Although I have not tested on the highway but will tomorrow morning.

Besides at the end of the day who doesn’t want a little wind in their hair (or lack there of in my case)from time to time.

My G83 is my 3rd M car... all silver(ish) convertibles. Silver 2004 E46, 2009 Silverstone E93, Skyscraper Grey Metallic G83. More unique, stylish, and eye catching... and that grill looks the best on the G83.

Thanks! Cabin is still quite even on the highway!

If one of your concerns is slashing, fear not. Apparently the g83 has a "anti theft" panel built into the fabric. In regards to value, I feel as though the convertibles loss value quicker, but regardless, m's hold their value better then any other bimmer.
