Scheduled for production then back to order received???

Has this happened to anyone with the i4 yet? It's supposed to produced on week 12 and I was excited things were moving ahead of schedule. Now this??
Curious about anyone else…….I've seen it on other forums here but not this one.

Exactly what happened to mine. Was scheduled for production for a couple days, then reverted back to order received.

I received the production numbers for my i4 M50 and iX on 12/31 with an estimated build week 12 (i4 M50) and week 14 (iX). There hasn’t been any movement on either when I’ve checked myBMW.

I'm status 47 according to the dealer, estimated build week 15 i4 m50, no production number. They said I'll get a production number 2 or so weeks before when I'm getting to status 111. I'm trying to validate this information.

When did you preorder? 047 is no quota, which means no allocation to the dealer.

September 2021 preorder. Are they blowing smoke ?

Essentially they're saying I'm in the "reservation list"
Not the order bank which is a waiting list. I'm trying to identify to correlate the information they're citing me with what others experienced.

Sept 2021 preorder will likely be a summer-ish 2022 production (MY 2023). Order banks usually open is May-ish for the next MY.

As an aside, I just checked myBMW and my i4 M50 is officially scheduled for production. The iX hasn’t moved off order received.

I was a June 1 preorder.

That's not true. You get a build number when your order is accepted.
I have a build number and my production week is 21. I got a build number in Dec.

My pre-order was June 1
Order in Nov
Build numbet and can view my car with all options in MyBMW.

you don't get a build (i.e. production) number until there is an allocation. In his situation, the dealer doesn't have an allocation yet. I didn't have a production number until 12/31 or around that time once allocations were released, even though the dealer had put my config in the order bank a month earlier.

I guess I wasn't clear in my response to the other poster, but you get a production number long before the two weeks before a car goes into production. A couple of weeks before production you might have a VIN/chassis number.

As this poster indicated you get a production number once there is allocation.

If the dealer took your "order" but you have no production number a month later, you don't really know when you will actually get production.

By cancelling your pre-order, you lose your place in line. You cannot transfer it to another dealer. Regardless of what they're telling you, you'll get it when BMW gets around to getting it to you.

I would just stay the course. If you don't get any movement in May, then possibly look at a different store. I still believe it's just because your reservation was made in September.... that's pretty late in the queue.... If you did it online, through BMWUSA, it probably showed Summer 2022 delivery vs June 2022.

Something else to consider is since you have a preorder in flight, you should be - emphasis on should - protected from any market adjustments. If you cancel and go hunting for an allocation at another store, you could find yourself paying MSRP+++. Even if you look elsewhere, keep the existing reservation so you're in line.

Cheers!

Did you go into the dealer and pre-order or with BMW and then assigned a dealer?

The process was pretty clear for me from the start.
Once the order bank opened I configured my car and got a PDF via email that I had to approve with the build config.

When I made a change like interior color and adding the 50th emblems; I was required to sign off on a new PDF.

Have you configured and approved the PDF?

Today, mine just went back to "scheduled for production" status.
I called BMW financial yesterday to try and extend my i3s beyond the 6 months, which is up in March. The lady from BMFS told me she believes my is scheduled for production week 12. So probably towards the end of next month.

Yep. Also, they made me add the HUD for the m50 saying they cannot submit the order without HUD, saying the system will reject it.

I did, I received a PDF of the build and had to confirm it. They did tell me I can make changes to it anytime up until the production week. With the exception of adding "BMW individual" options.

That’s not entirely accurate. #1, The build week is when your car will finish, not start production. #2, You can make build modifications, except individual bits until it hits status 150, which is the start of production. However, a change could require a delay in build depending on what changes were made (i.e. paint color, interior, etc). I would recommend finalizing your build well in advance if you want to keep your current build date estimates.

That is awesome if build week 12 is when my car will actually be built. That means I might actually get it in April sometime. I pre-ordered the first hour I was able to.
