3m tape CF Rear Spoiler gap or no gap

I got my CF M Pro. rear spoiler and just taped it up with 3m, but was wondering if I should leave a gap for water to run through? I did not leave a gap.

Some might say that it already comes pre-tapped , but mines did not.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but leaving a gap will cause water to build up inside since the spoiler is somewhat hollow inside no?
