His spreadsheet also shows promising #'s for the i4 M50 with 19" wheels
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=735351678 the average range thus far from his compilation is 269 miles (433km), and most of it was in colder weather.

am I reading that right? 239 range? or did I miss something. is that at full 100% charge? I know you are not suppose to charge these electric cars past 85% of the battery limit bc its bad for the battery. I skipped through the video bc my main thing I wanted to see was the charging speed and the range he was getting.
also on his spreadsheet he stated the tesla M3P had 18" wheel dont those come with 19" wheel? I could be wrong but I know when it comes to range every little detail adds to the overall range etc..

2400kg (5290lb). Granted that's with the driver, but man, that's heavy.

Yeah, 280 ish km going 120 is pretty bad. Temps are just barely freezing. It's been 20-30 bellow here for weeks, I can't imagine how bad the range must be in these situations.

The range was pretty much what the Tesla SR got. In nice weather this will be much better. It was snowing, he had tons of snow in his wheel wells, it was cold, in his video he was constantly passing other cars...I wouldn't get overly concerned.
Others have indicated a better range than this. And this is the M50, for those that ordered the e40 like me, it will be better still. |

Most of the EV owners I know don't see the range as a deal breaker because they use the vehicle for daily commuting and charging the vehicle overnight in their garage. The daily miles driven never exceeds the single charge range irrespective of how the the EV has been driven.
There is a larger question which will be answered in time. At what point the combination of solid state battery technology and greater availability of charging stations will convert EV bystanders to buyers? |

Governments will make sure peoples wallets convert them. Thats how its done, easy and simple.. I dont like it, but its just reality. Since its proven to work i think it will be adopted in all the western countries soon enough. |

Yes, skinner 18" wheels would have increased range by as much as 7%. The car did pretty well overall considering the odds stacked against it. I'm looking forward to his summer range tests with it given that his spreadsheet already indicates 269 miles of average range thus far in cold winter months. I'm just thankful BMW didn't give him a 20" wheel model

I run an M50 as a demonstrator here in NI, constantly see 240+ miles without pre condition. This car is on 20’s and every option bar CF & sunroof. As a demonstrator, everybody and their mother has driven it!!!
Range can only improve |

are you charging the battery past 85%? is that range based off a full charge each time or a % of charge?

I'm new to EV's. Do you have articles or anything stating that it's not advisable to charge past 85%? Haven't seen that. Thanks.

I dont have a specific article but I have seen it mentioned a lot in various videos and all my friends who own tesla told me the first thing they are told is dont charge it over 85% as its not good for the battery and also the tesla makes you force the car charge past the 85%

This is true for iPhones: https://www.makeuseof.com/why-your-i...at-80-percent/ It's true for Google Pixel phones: https://9to5google.com/2021/07/14/pi...alth-charging/ And just true in general: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/04/s...ng-advice.html That being said, the effect is small. It's doing it every day where it adds up. Also, it can take as long to charge from 80% to 100% as it did to go from 20% to 80%. It just isn't worth the time, particularly on a long road trip. |

based on Bjorn's average right now of the i4 M50, I really don't see 300 miles being an issue at all in warm months with normal driving on 19" wheels.

I agree. It's definitely within reach so long as you're not hard on the loud pedal all the time. Then again, this is the M50 and it will really want to GO
